10 november 2011: Nationaal debat ‘NO FAITH IN SCIENCE’ in Amsterdam
Onlangs presenteerde ForumC het onderzoeksrapport Levensbeschouwing & Wetenschap, een inventarisatie onder Nederlands hoogleraren. Uit het onderzoek blijkt dat 44% van de hoogleraren zich atheïst noemt. Een ander opmerkelijk resultaat is dat een meerderheid (64%) van de wetenschappers spanning of zelfs een conflict tussen theïsme en wetenschap ervaart. Is er geen geloof meer te vinden in de wetenschap? Leidt de wetenschap automatisch tot ongeloof? En hoe staat het met het geloof in de wetenschap? Hierover gaat het Nationaal Debat over geloof en wetenschap op donderdag 10 november in Amsterdam.
Tijdens het middagprogramma benaderen een Amerikaanse expert op dit gebied, dr. Elaine Ecklund, en twee Nederlandse experts, dr. Taede Smedes en prof. Frans van Lunteren de resultaten van het onderzoek vanuit een godsdienstfilosofische, historische en sociologische invalshoek.
’s Avonds gaan dr. Ard Louis, fysicus uit Oxford, en Prof. Herman Philipse met elkaar in debat over de stelling ‘There is no evidence for God’.
